Error on DPM when creating a New Protection Group

This is to address a known issue on System Center Data Protection Manager with SP1 when creating a New Protection Group

 

Problem

When you reach the final stage of creating a “New Protection Group” on DPM you receive the following error message

 

“Create protection group 1 failed:

Error 207: An unexpected error occurred during a VSS operation

Error details: No such interface supported (0x80004002)

Recommended action: Retry the operation“

 

Solution

 

Re-register vss_ps.dll on the DPM server:

Open run(winkey+R), copy and execute the following : -> "regsvr32 %windir%\System32\vss_ps.dll"

You may need to restart the “Volume Shadow Copy” service after performing this step.
