This issue is causing if the IVssDifferentialSoftwareSnapshotMgmt3 (ref: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb736428(VS.85).aspx) interface is not registered correctly with the volume shadow copy components
resolution
Re-register vss_ps.dll on the DPM server:
From a command prompt issue "regsvr32 %windir%\System32\vss_ps.dll"
You may need to restart the “Volume Shadow Copy” service after performing this step.
It it doesn’t work out follow this
